in lots lf lans most pcs have ports blocked to outside the network.
this pc can be something like that (i dont think so though), more likely is that the pc you cant ping is good firewalled smile.gif

did u tried to telnet to a web server from port 80 try to open on your machine a web server and see if u can telnet it

perhaps a firewall blocks external ping requests for this purpose tongue.gif

If it's behind a router (I.E. Cisco) then an ALC might have blocked IMCP replies for your subnet. Are they using DHCP or are you static? Corporate or small business network? I would go to the server and see if admin software is blocking you like Tivoli or something. Also change your IP to a different address and see if it works. The restriction could be in a DHCP pool only. Is this on something like a cable modem (witch it doesn't sound like it is) it could be hard ware filters.

ICMP Ping replies might be disabled in the SERVER...!! wink.gif

Yes sometimes isp's do block icmp (ping) . My isp too does it or maybe u router is set to do it .

yeah they might have done it if they got DoSed

Ok I think you said you could ping the "server1" from "server2" but you can't ping "server1" from your home PC. What kind of access do you have to "server2"? If any of the servers are running Windows 2003 or XP you can turn on remote desktop and log into "server1" and install a port redirector. Or if you can VNC/remote desktop with "server2" then you can install a go vuln scanner like retina and scan "server1" from "server2". The trick here is to see how much info you can get about the server then figure out what you want to do with "server1".

Well, between Server1 and Server2 is everything possible, by remote desktop i have full axx on server2 over server1 !
i think server2 is behind a hardware firewall or something like that.
