Knoppix is Linux on the fly you could say,
No need to install , it just boots from the your CD-Rom.
It comes with all the tasty programs,shells,apps you will ever need.
Nessus is also included in the application list!!!!

No need to duel boot anymore, this OS is really great for beginners and i highly recomend it...

You can get it from edonkey, Emule etc but it does require a cd-rw so you can burn the downloaded image.

Give it a try, you will be amazed

For the technically inclined people it uses the Debian system (Kernel)
Includes everything like b3nji said above it even includes DHCP scripts no ifconfig etc...
The new version actually now has the option of saving your settings to the hard drive so you don't loose everything that you created worked on everytime you reboot...

It is however ALOT slower than the regular debian distribution...

dual booting is easier then ever

True, though the downside of knoppix is that it doesn't support a great library of peripherals (at least, in my opinion) like my nic, modem, and a few other things aren't supported (even though they are just generic parts)

Personally, I think dual booting is the way to go, mostly because you don't have to wait for your cd-drive, and you don't have to use a ramdisk.

well, there are some other bootable operating systems, like gnoppix ( gnoppix.org, nearly the same like knoppix, but with a gnome desktop environment ) or look at gentoogames.org, they have bootable game cds for rtcw - enemy territory and america's army.
