Retina 5.0 Beta Now Available
eEye Digital Security is pleased to announce the public availability of Retina Network Security Scanner, version 5.0, for beta evaluation. Retina, PC Magazine's Editor's Choice Award winner, is the industry's leading scanner in terms of speed, accuracy, non-intrusiveness and ease of use. As a result of exhaustive research and development efforts and valuable customer feedback, eEye has significantly enhanced Retina's functionality and user interface, once again raising the bar for network-based scanners.

Retina may be a good scanner/vuln management platform, but I am really turned off by their licensing costs. $6,200 USD to be able to scan 256 lousy IP addresses?
I seriously considered purchasing this tool for our company, but don't think that it is worth the money when Nessus is "almost" as good and FREE!
Any other thoughts on a more affordable vuln management/scanning tool you've used which doesn't have such a silly licensing scheme?
Txs!

Nessus is a good Vulnerability Scanner !
Good is such a mild word to use - Its Excellent !!!
But its reporting abilities are not the best.
It has to be improved upon.
The False Positives are less !
and everything works well
I prefer Shadow Scanner 6.x better than Retina!
I hope eEye reallly does it well this time !

You'll need a serial to run the Retina 5.0 beta. Then it's only a 30 day trial.

It has a competely new look thats for sure. More of a WinXP themed look. The updating is much more clean than the previous version. I didn't read the readme yet, but I'm sure it still scans for vunl's the same way.

To be honest: Its ugly, its much too complicated and it is much too big.
There are different cui programms that are smaller an faster;
eeye did well, but i think there are better progs out there ...
Anyway: Thanks for the link

i also got the download link from Eeye, as we did business with them before, but i have to be honest and say that this new version isnt what its all cranked up to be..
yes, the looks are changed up, but if that is makin the prog any better? I also found the navigation nothing to get exciting about..
And then to think of the ridiculous price they ask for it, im pretty sure my boss isnt going to get us this license..
