Hi,

I would like for example to scan for open port 5554 on a sertain range.

But my router won't let me.

Anyone has an idea on which port should i open?

I tried openning port 5554 TCP but it didn't work.

Thanks in advanced.

of course it doesnt work. what does it have to do with ur local port 5554 if u want to scan OTHERS for port 5554....

scanning with routers isnt a good idea. i dont have a router but i heard of problems because the scanner tries to open too much sockets which the router cant handle. only a specific number of connections can be passed through the router.

ever heard of a scanstro? but we're going into fxp-shit here so ill stop now. i think u want to hack poor ppl anyway so...

I would like to scan my local network for this specific open port and others as well.

scanstro i don't have, I thought something can be done with that router.

Any other ideas?

localnetwork can be easily scanned, just put in the range of the network and start scanning.

For real world scanning, just dont do it at home, u can hardly do anything else internetrelaeted. Irc / msn will drop out and browsing will be a pain in the ass. And besides, ur ISP wont like it...

u could scan with a proxy, maybe that workd better....then u can scan ur netwerk from an outsiders-point-of-view.

I'm sure you are scanning on the wrong network interface.
Get a port scanner like dsns whrer you can select the interface.
If your lan has ip addresses from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.255 then take this interface.

Outgoing request to port 5554 arent filtered by default.
But maybe your sysadmin has stopped outgoing transfer to this port.
So if you are infected with the virus, it won't spread from your machines any more wink.gif

First scann your network from outside.
If tcp port 445 is blocked by your router, you would not get infectetd from outside.
But there is also a risk from getting infected via LAN, maybe a employer takes his infected laptop from home to work ... the mass begins wink.gif
Best way to secure your computer is to install a firewall on your macheine and you are secure from outside and the LAN.

There's not a scanner in the world that I know of that acts like a server. Normally, scanners create sockets to test if a remote port is open. You do not need to reconfigure your router as it will automatically acquire your outbound port from the packets you are sending out. It's like browsing the web; you don't need to configure your router to connected to httpds.

Hope this cleared some things up wink.gif
