My Box should restart, but in the "Saving your Settings" screen hangs it since 2 hours. (OS: Windows 2000 SP4)

Are there any tools, how can i force a restart ?


i testet it with "shutdown.exe" but nothing helps...

physical restart ?

I'm assuming since that isnt an option this might be remote location

you could try physically killing running processes, ie kill winlogon.exe and other vital services

you could try alternative shutdown tools

you could just go down the process list killing everything till finally it gives up the ghost of ahope and dies

Did you try it with the -f option (Force)? It will force running applications to stop and boot/shutdown the system.

Most tools have this option like shutdown.exe or psshutdown.exe
