Have him send you a e-mail .

Takes a little bit of social engineering.

You can either make a e-mail address just for that purpose (make sure it has the option to show headers), or piss him off and hope he replies or do both.

Start watching your packets, might give you his ip next time he does it.

maybe you sould try this prog.

any kind of packet watcher/logger should work.. you can tell instant messages because in the packet it has HTML markups

if you start a game/file transfer (must be big enough) it's gonna use direct connection after you can just use netstat or any other way...

wen u start talking to them just do a netstat -n and wat came out that wasent there earlier that should be it

In the early days ipget_3.0 ws working fine but later hotmail patached there system and this software is for no use to get ips

send them a file to connect to their comp, then goto in command and type netstat -n to see the open connections. There should be a ip down at the bottom thats different from the others.

ask him to give you a picture or you send him any kind of file and then start netstat -n and there is a connection between you and him with port 6819.

just a thought ... the new MSN messenger has an option for a personal pic and custom smilies so when u change ur pic does it transfer the file via the server or direct and when u send him a special smiley does he downloads the image from u or the server...
try testing that how somehow might work

I know starting a game works but I don't think the custom smiley/personal pic is sent in direct (never tried so I may be wrong/hope to be wrong) because when you send small file (don't remember what the file limit was) it pass by the server...

they must be using the server for everything possible and just use direct when the bandwidth requirement is big

This should be quite simple - just use some process-port-ip monitor, which displays running processes with their corresponding opened ports and ip addresses. Then just figure out, which ip address connected with msn process is the right one.

I have a way easier way to do it! I use a prog that sets up a listening port and waits for connections to it. It can emulate html so when they connect you can have a little message. Its very simple to use and if you have any questions about it i would be glad to answer them. I use this prog for many other things too. The prog is called IP Stealer. You can dl it from my site but my hosting is free so dont abuse!

All you do to use it is click start and then give them a link that makes a connection to your comp either through ftp or http like http://209.179.34.56 or whatever. You can make the link look like whatever you want like www.google.com but when they clcik it they will get your messge and you will get their ip in the progs window. The only downside to this is that if they are smart they can see your ip, but this isnt a problem for me cause my ip changes everytime i connect to the internet. It sounds complicated but its not!

KILLERBOY > that's doesn't work atm, because msn isn't IP => IP, it goes through a MS server before getting displayed, that's why ipget isn't working anymore

i read somewhere that if u send a big file (3mb)u still can see the ip my a simple netstat or packet sniff.
