Hi Members,

When i try to start Serv-U i get an Error message. I have installed it with HCT.exe as a service and that works well but when i try to start the Services i get this error:


The service is not responding to the control function.
More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2186.

HCT Command:
hct.exe -si servuftp servuftp C:\servu.exe

SERVICE STARTING COMMAND:
net start servuftp

or

hct.exe -sS servuftp

Hope someone has a solution cuz its driving me crazy

sounds like it may have welll been disabled, try reinstalling the service again under another name?

Maybe there is something wrong with your serv-u file, did u hex edited it?

Try other serv-u files, and maybe there is also a serv-u running

Why don't you just install serv-u like this:

servudaemon.exe -install

and then

net start serv-u


If you get that error it is also possible an other serv-u daemon is already running. You can fix that with hex-edit it.

you've prolly havent modded the servu right, that or them commands arnt legit

install as service the serv-u and then start it.

yeh definately try blah.exe /i or blah.exe /install
net start blah as servu should do that on its own

otherwise id double check the serv-u files and make sure they is otday. test em on your system to be sure.

i have also tested a my own hex edited servu.

It was called system.exe(servudaemon.exe) system.dll(servudaemon.ini) and as service name i used System so i dont know what the problem is

the roblem is taht you don't use the right name of your service

I've also had a similar problem when I used a tool to create a service for Serv-U.
Got around it by using the usual ServUDaemon.exe /i, then modify the Serv-U FTP Service entry in the registry (service name & description) to something less obvious.

got it

servu /i

net start servufile


*changed the service also while hex editing so its alright.
