I just found this awesome site that so far has answered 90 % of any question asked on this forum and has 75 % of all the downloads plus the requests.. Just though everyone may wanna check it out before they continue to ask the same question over and over even has tutorials on how to read if thats the problem aswell ... k are you ready .. its amasing

i hope the message behind this topic is that ppl should FIRST try google and if that didn't clear out the question ask it here (maybe with a more specific question so the members here can help you even better)
google is your friend and you should always use friends

and offcourse google doens't anwser all questions
that's why this forum is such a success
but the real easy questions should be answered by google (e.g. when you need a file from the win2k resource kit... you can google that kit up so quickly that you'd even be wasting your time typing your question cuz in the same time you would have google'd it up )

so... when you have a question, first try google and then come here (it's even written in the rules like this...)

this is off topic but awhile ago I got a warning for posting a link that listed about 30 downloads and i posted it in the file downloads section which i would think was a perfect place for it, and they warned me citing that there were no downloads at the site bah BS, and then i saw other people doing the same thing and not even getting a word. soooo

I WANT MY WARNING TAKEN OFF!!!!!

I think that this threads more educational then most the implication behind everything is that you should learn how to educate yourself how to research things and how to explore not just expect things to happen .. By taking a little time out of your schedule and using it to research you can get everything yah want .. Sad that many of you as shown fail to realize this

and google often often comes back to forums for reference, where many specific problems are encountered and solved as much as possible

i dont think message boards are useless or obsolete, the issue is organising it and getting decent enough content levels of the posts to warrant organising it

you need to post all answers in a help thread as efficiently and helpfully as you can, as well as including other info, references, reference links, and alternate trails of investigation [this thread is bs, so it doesnt matter me ranting here ]

now i understand that only 1/100 people will actually do this, and only 1/100 of the time

but if we keep the important threads clear, for those people who can help, or at least organise things efficiently [i.e for googling purposes, a reply with a lot of reference links can help a lot]

the moral of the story is, dont leave all your assignments to the last night then go trolling on security forums... oops, gtg

Well, this isn't a warez board. I think that we'd like to keep that seperate. The guys post open source and freeware toolz in the downloads area, and keep the commerical stuff to warez boards.

I'm not accusing you of this, but its definitely a possibility on why you were warned.

I agree with this statement. I have a lot yet to learn but GSO has taught me much more than random hit and misses in google would ever have done in this time frame.

id say the advanatage of a forum is 0 day discussions as you can find information as soon as it comes out, google will just eventually index this
