Ofcourse, I wish to know which one is good, Sendmail or Qmail or what is your suggession?.. and Why you suggest so?.. Waiting here for your valuable opinions.

Anything but sendmail imo, mainly due to sendmail usually being full of holes...You may also want to consider ensim & qpopper, it's what I run on my server and I havn't had a problem yet!
Voxell
We are using postfix here for 2000+ users and that one runs very fine.

But You'll have to compare different servers and see what you need....

I most often hear good things about postfix and qmail. It seems that more folks use postfix than qmail. I use qmail myself, and found it a bit archaic in the setup. I'd go for either postfix or qmail, and probably would lean towards postfix, but I've never messed with it so can't say for sure.

I'm using postfix for over 1500 users, it's really good. I've used QMail, too. QMail is great, really. It has a nice structure. I like it too much.

Currently QMail is used by Hotmail and Yahoo, two of the greatest free email servers on the net.

I recommend QMail for big use smile.gif
(for sure QMail + other related tools)

Yes, course of sure. In Yahoo headers it's clear.

As you found, LifeWithQmail is great tutorial. But you can also find every thing about it here:

Thanks a lot m8.. You know, I have heard that Hotmail is running under Windows 2000 Special version... I am not sure, I thought that Microsoft too is using Free BSD-qmail combination, but yesterday one of my friend told, they are using Exchange and 2000 Datacenter special version now etc... Do you know anything about it?... I dont think that Windows and Exchange will handle these much users... Do you think? blink.gif ...

Nice day m8

I like qmail, but I think that any email server can be insecure. I think sendmail has got a bad rap since it started out the gate as one of the early leaders and therefore became a quick target of hackers. I'm not sure, but I would suggest that other email servers are somewhat secure thru their obscurity, which is not a bad practice, in ways.

I would go with qmail or sendmail. Even if sendmail is insecure, if you stay up on things, it'll do just fine. I have tried both qmail and sendmail, neither was ever hacked.

Well, sendmail is more secure now due to the fact that it's been raked over the coals and damage control has been done. But it was still a very insecure mail server, full of holes (mostly, cause folks didn't think much bout holes back then). Qmail has proven itself to be secure from the start, as there was a cash prize available for anyone who could exploit it. That cash prize was never won.

Sendmail is notoriously difficult to set up properly (I can't say from experience), so I don't think I would recommend it based on what I've read/heard.

I've thought so, but as far as I knew MS uses qmail for it's Outbound traffic.

postfix hands down.. its simple, just as efficient as sendmail, and far more secure than sendmail
manu
Woody,

I thought about POSTFIX first, but, later I decided to take qmail itself... I think, it is better than POSTFIX.. Am I right?

Yup, but it also depends on your need, and how much time do u want spend on it and in general "How much it costs for you?". POSTFIX is really simple and secure, and also works fine, QMail is more reliable also more complicated to configure so more time-consuming.

But You are on your own, manu.
