Hi all
am working on opening a new website all to do with Programming it will also include a Forum:
covering all the main programming languages C,C++ ,VC++ VB, VB.NET , PHP , PERL, ASSEMBLY,XML,PYTHON etc,etc
sections will include projects, help ,coding ,tips, tutorials , tools and design , source code library, links, plus more
and i was wondering what your views are...am no coder i just dabble in bits..
but a lot of you are very talented and i thought i would create a forum for hardline programming...and because i love the subject
cheers

I'm not a programmer either, but I'll be doing it for the next two years in school and more on my own probably, so I'm very interested in seeing this being setup.
I look forward to seeing this opened

That is a great idea...I'm dabbling in some C++ as well, and this sounds like a good idea to get and recieve help. Sometimes I have programming questions that are just too specific for the general programming/tool design section so this forum would be a good idea. It would be nice if u can somehow tie it in with the security forum, perhaps projects and tools that deal with security.

Hello Comsec.
Yes a good idea.
I visit this forum usually on a daily basis and the programming board is what I hold the most interest in. Your other forums no offence to what you are trying to achieve here can be a little annoying with script kiddies questioning for example why they cant compile nix code on a windows box.
There seems to be an awful lot of people on this board in general just looking for their next root with little or no interest in programming so moving it away from this board would in my opinion be a good idea.
You would however still have script kiddies so perhaps it would have to be heavily moderated and I know this takes time to implement and control but if you want to create a serious security programming community then thats something that has to be done.
Anyway a board dedicated to security orientated programming broken up into logical categories would be a valuable resource so you have my vote. Aswell as language specific perhaps consider breaking down aswell into categories such as overflows, sockets, encryption, etc.
In all honesty and in my opinion the script kiddies on these boards do ruin it so hopefully you can deter them from posting to your new programming site/forum.
greetings

well this is the reason i have decided to create this with the help and advice of Gsecur...it will all fall under GSO site projects BUT will be total seperate place to here.
ATM the domain is setup and also the test forum.. so i will be busy as hell for the coming week...getting it all ready , i think it will be a great learning zone for security related programming...and am very keen on the idea... i will also include a private area for that bit extra resources and private projects..if you get my drift
so am looking for feedback to see if i can stimulate some interest as to if this project will work or not

I don't think you'd have to tie it in, although come to think of it you could make a subsection specifically for security tools.
That means having a purely programming area, for all different things as ComSec stated, but then have an area part of it solely for security tools.
/edit
Upon reading your second post I do think it will work, as I'm sure there are plenty of people here would could benefit and add to the new area. Also, like you say there are plenty of people interested in learning.

hm hm hm the idea is not bad. but would it be possible to integrate sections for programming questions which does not trigger security in the first?
i for example writes one distributed university project after another where my biggest probs are always:
why does client b not find server a
in this fact the security is only on the second hand interesting to get extra credits bye the profs
