I thought it was a hotplug problem with cable detection but when i stop it now the interface is up and the same thing - i dont have connection until unplugging cable and plugging it again sad.gif

well im a redhat guy but ill take a stab.

Are you sure everyting is setup correctly ? i.e. there are files where the adapter information is stored.

on redhat this is like

/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts

and there is like an ifcfg-eth0 file with a switch in there to initialize the adapter at boot.

try doing /sbin/ifconfig (or whereever your ifconfig is) after booting before you unplug and replug the adapter and see if the interface initialized and configured. Also I hope mandrake as a dmesg so you can do dmesg |more and see if the adapter fails on boot. Sometimes if the adapter is loaded as a module it can be out of sequence with other modules and fail on boot but not other times. Check your modules.conf or whatever mandrake uses.

If all else fails try adding a starup script that does an ifconfig down and ifconfig up on the adapter (/etc/rc.local or make one in /etc/rc3.d)

Not a very good reply I know but I hope maybe a hint in the right direction.

donīt use mandrake, sorry, it is disgusting

do you use dhcp or static ip?
maybe your router doesnīt always reply to your dhcp request
i had this problem and solved by using static ip adresses

I agree don't use mandrake, Debian is very very good, try knoppix or knoppix-std
is great to me.
Live cd, yu can try it before install, yu can use it when windows or linux down
It is very very Good tools == leave mandrake.
Ademas esta una beta version, and beta version don't work good, try with oldest versions.
