well ppl hope you now understand better about subnetting..
with this you can protected your network exsample..
you using 2 computers on wirelles lan... if you don't have protected it well..
they can enter your network and start hacking...
but you use only 2 computers then you use 7bits subnetting..
nobody will be on the subnet were you are and they can't enter it.. so it's secure.
if i'm wrong ore make some mistake sorry for that.. but tell me..
tnx

It's a good security measure, but like anything, not foolproof.
An attacker can monitor the wireless network waiting until a computer goes down for a restart and jump on the network, or crash one of the computers with a dos attack then steal its ip.
Anyway layered security is what I believe in, throw enough stuff at an intruder and you've got a good chance of discovering them before they get through.

Thats quite a computer you've got there.

Don't follow you there but if you want to monitor people attacking your network it will be on your subnet.
Anyway with a wireless network even if they never access your network actively with a valid ip, they can still monitor all your traffic, which isn't exactly what I call secure.

monitor mmmm.. well oke but if you use 1024 encryption they will not see what you are doing..
i mean secure in ... if you had shared something they wouldn't get acces to folder(that's what my teacher said)
@technoboy yeah i know
