if u havent used it b4 then =/ if u have then u would notice its the prolly the best one to mess around with people ( all those op cd drive , mouse control) etc etc thats why its detected by all av imo..

"its probably detectable by all av programs"
you can always play with it a little that it wont be detected by av

Still, using something so common as a backdoor wouldn't be a good idea. I'm sure even the most basic of users know what subseven is by now.

trust me you won't fall for it or will see it but there's thousands of people that won't see it or know wtf it is.
Once on a public phone on the bad part of my town my friend put in 35 cents to make a phone call and after he entered the number the lady (believe it or not) said please enter your social security number and all i will say is he asked me if he should type it in.

a problem which ive noticed some ppl have is the false sense of security they get from AV programs because they neglect to update the defitions, of course many ppl update them as well but there is still a large number of ppl who think they are protected but really arent

I have to admit that it is fun to play with. I've used it in a lab setting (a college course on Network Security), and I made sure to sit in the back row so that I could see each workstation I was attacking. Good times.

i also played around with it with a friend's pc. his mcafee nv detected it, deleted it and then his windows didn't do anything anymore after the trojan had been deleted. wouldn't even start up anymore. had to reinstall the whole system...

another reason why it's so pupolar..is it's because it's publicly available..and it's the easiest way to mess some-one's box without any coding that's why noob-kiddies use this trojan...

Right. You can find it just about everywhere. I was a suprised to find out that it is written in VB. I'm hoping to start writing my own this summer with a friend, and it won't be in VB.

Sub7 is popular because it was one of the first + it's quite advanced.

Just google after alternative packing methods . I won't say my packet tool cause i don't want that tomorrow every damn antivir software scanner find my little rootkits and trojans
