is there a password cracker that will crack shadowed passwords im looking for one i can run on a windows machine i want to crack unix\linux shadowed password files

use john the ripper, it might take awhile though...

ehm , i don't think that this will work the shadow passes are dummies and you'll need the real passwd to crack it.. but i am not sure

but you can g00gle 4 john and jack the rippers

shadow passwords are not crackable... once u have something like :x: or :*: instead of an HASH, the only way to crack the password is that if u have the /etc/shadow file...
and then make an "unshadow"

U will need JTR, the passwd file and the shadow file just get JTR to unshadow then get cracking the unshadowed passwd file
