Great for you winbloz users to experience some real hacking tools. Really easy to install if you want to.

YEAH, it has the OpenMosix kernel, right now i have 2 AMD 2800's with 512mb of ram cracking a WEP encryption, Shazam! I am gunna have to take this distro and bump on down to the computer lab and make a super comptuer smile.gif. Yeah this is the shit. FLUXBOX!!!!!! by default, you could load it with the flux with some cheat codes smile.gif. Fluxbox is nice on a live cd, less resources. hell yeah.

Yes I am aware there are a few different threads about knoppix-std. However this release deserves its own thread. smile.gif

Nice, i'm downloading it right now, i've used phlak too and that was great so this one should be if not as great maybe even better = ). What i do like about phlak more is that xfce is beautiful, but fluxbox ownz all the older pc's. Much faster. As in content its got a shitload of tools, great, very good = ). Its a life saver.

I have used phlak and knoppix...but had their advantages. I am thinking of trying knoppix-std too.

Can anyone reccomend whether i should choose knoppix-std or phlak?

Hell, phlak and knoppix std both run from CD. why not burn/use both?

I used it a few times for war driving works quite good! blink.gif

one of my war driving adventures biggrin.gif

I was like 30minutes in front of someone's house and that person probably thought that I was a burglar that was observating his house, so I think he called the police sad.gif
Because a police van stopped and two cops stept out of the van and asked me what the (filtered) I was doing. unsure.gif
I told the two cops that I was internetting biggrin.gif and they kind of bought it.
I had to show my drivers license and had to open my trunk for them and they looked for stuff like a crowbar etc. ph34r.gif
Anyway after a little talk with the cops I was able to resume my war driving wink.gif

Apparently to me...if he doesn't know what to do with an ISO file than he won't understand...

So, I ask for him to PM me and I'll walk him through the process, that way I won't "sway away from topic" and I won't get too many cheesy post counts cool.gif

I love Knoppix STD. Even though I'm a linux guy and have the scanning/hacking toolz on all of my machines, its nice to carry a copy of STD in my backpack and car. You never know when you'll need to hack!
Erra
Thanks for the info....never tried this before, but it sounds like something to have a play with smile.gif

Cheers

Heres a question for ya'll. When I load knoppix do stuff and restart, my vid card (fireGL) funks out. I have to unplug it and replug it in to get video. Anyone know why? Its been pissin me off for a loong while.

I'm working on remastering Knoppix STD into my own collaboration with all of my exploits pre-compiled on it, some of my favorite hacking tunes, etc.

Its real easy to do, if there is enough interest, I'll write up a tool on how to do so. I'm going to chop it down small as I can hopefully it will fit on one of those wallet CDs.
guinn3ss
Yes !! this should be very good, some how to like that are welcime biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
SCVirus
is it just me or does 0.1b not include open mosix?
guinn3ss
0.1b is no more supported, the current version is 0.1,
ComSec
any of you lot tried SuSe (live)...a scaled down version of the 4 disc disto i have and its pretty good

650 plus dl...or you can buy it from them

only problem is it dont let you install to hd like knoppix... i installed knoppix as debian...very good

guinn3ss

Many ways to install std, this is one way

you are on fluxbox, press alt f5 (root shell)
type : knoppix-installer
go for debian style. don't knoppix style, (after installing you will not able to change passwords).

when install done, if you cannot open apply :
press alt f5 and type vi /etc/sudoers or edit sudoers in /etc/ and add this:
username ALL=(ALL) ALL

to make your own menu : go to /home/username/.fluxbox/ and edit the init,
you will find where the menu is tongue.gif tongue.gif, change it
changesession.menuFile home/username/.fluxbox/menu
what you can do know ?

if you have some hard disk or many partitions look at this :
in the menu file, add this line :

[exec] (Mount hda5) { mount /mnt/hda5 }
[exec] (Mount hda8) { mount /mnt/hda8 }
[exec] (Mount hda9) { mount /mnt/hdc9 }
[exec] (Mount hda1) { mount /mnt/hdd1 }
if you don't know which disk you can mount, go to /mnt/

i use mc to edit file (mc in a shell)

then you can add any apply yu want?
don't forget some cmd :
to install :
apt-get install amsn (amsn is an example)

to find a apply to install :
apt-cache search amsn

remove apply
apt-get remove amsn

et Voilą a little noob tutorial tongue.gif tongue.gif
very bad english? sorry tongue.gif tongue.gif

Hey, so where can I find the EC-Council one? I've looked around on their site and googled around for it... actually the only hit that came up was your post!

In some of the EC-Council docs I saw reference to the main Knoppix but not anything else.

Lemme know

PS: knoppix-std 0.1 rocks all over everything else I've seen

I just found graet programm called coLinux, its really great:

Cooperative Linux is the first working free and open source method for optimally running Linux on Microsoft Windows natively. More generally, Cooperative Linux (short-named coLinux) is a port of the Linux kernel that allows it to run cooperatively alongside another operating system on a single machine. For instance, it allows one to freely run Linux on Windows 2000/XP, without using a commercial PC virtualization software such as VMware, in a way which is much more optimal than using any general purpose PC virtualization software. In its current condition, for example, it allows us to run the KNOPPIX Edition on Windows.
