anybody know whats the best independent free security scan?

a client of mine wants to be able to goto a website , type in the ip to scan, and get a generated report(free).


only the sites ive seen only do from the ip address you are comin from..

I don't think such a site exists.... I could be wrong though!

Most sites will not allow yoou to scan other target boxes for security reasons. Think of the liability

tell him to get on each comp and load the site from there heh. or install http proxies on everyone, and access the site through each proxy. either way its bad.

there were such sites but they all have been closed for
abuse reasons ... as you might think there is always some
bad with the good ...
but you might try to install nessus which is a nice free(ware)
security scanner from www.nessus.org.

I've never seen a site that lets you scan OTHER people.

The only one that I can think of at the moment for scanning yourself is grc.com. I know that's not what you're looking for, but just in case you didn't know of this one.

And, of course, you can always setup a Nessus box and give them access to it so they can run scans on whoever they want. Just make sure they know how "bad" it is to scan someone without their permission first.

i think i used to see the sites too but they mustve all been taking down;

he has setup now a VPN to each site , on each site is a proxy anyway and going to GRC through each proxy.
