Here are some other flavors and each of them is of your taste but also your hardware. Lets say you have a really extremely old machine, in which BitchX and Xchat, Kvirc, irssi, run slow u might wana give Nirc a try, it comes with Naim and Nicq, all are command line clients for each of those protocols and run very fast. THe Damn Small Linux distribution comes with this by default. If you do have the processor speed to spare and the memory u should give the others a try, alot better looking than Nirc. My favorite of all is Xchat because of its inmense amount of plugins, i love the sys stats perl plugins. If you are a super scriptx0r u might wana give Kvirc a try because its a scriptable client.

I'm aware that this is the beginners section...but how many times can you tell someone to TRY GOOGLE!! Try it, look what happens if you type in "Linux IRC client". It's not rocket science.

Sorry if I sound too harsh.
