yes the site is much faster. Great job, i guess you guys did some spring cleaning before spring time (Unless you live south of the equator)
Ha... well i only have one question, how long of a wait period will you give for verification of e-mail adresses?
P.S also this stopping of new registration things is the best method that could be throught up to stop those stupid script kiddies from continiously upping trojans and viruses to infect other members... great thinking mods...

ahhhh much better guys good job.
I got a comment on the site.
when you browsing around and you click on a topic. In order to see it you must be logged on right. But you know if your not it takes you to the login so that you can login but when you do it takes you straight to forum not the topic you where gonna look at. So was with that. Now i have to go back to the index and click on the topic again, to see it. Can that be fixed?
other than saying stop being lazy and just look for it.

That's good..feels better and safer with a smaller community
you could also do like.. prune by people that haven't posted in over 60 days or something.. that way you can get the people that may have like 3 or 4 posts but never came back... just a suggestion

same for me then i s'pose =)
i'm at this forum because it's a great place for invaluable knowledge. i try to learn how the exploits work and how to protect myself from them.
but from now on , i'll try to be a bit more active =) because i really don't want to go away from this forum.
otherwise, i just want to thank the admins and the founder, for a splendid well managed site =) i reall love it. and no matter what OS i'm testing, you always seem to have information about it.
so please keep up the good work =)

As previously mentioned by Comsec GSO will be conducting a massive clean-up operation on the site. We have enjoyed the massive growth but we have determined the site is having some growing pains. The following actions will happen during the cleanup.
Registration will be closed.
All members with 0 posts in the last 3 months will be deleted
All member emails addresses will be validated
We are looking for your patience while these operations are completed.

BTW Gsecur and Comsec: i do not remember getting a email validation from GSO.. my junkmail has been mounting and i have just been emptying the junk folder without piling through it. so if you could/if needed please resend the email validation thing. I am using a free email account (i prefer HTML based email access... harder to contract viruses through it)
anywho.. good work.. 10K users and how many were active?

I believe you have to have 20 posts before you can be promoted above private (20 quality posts, not just "Greetz to everyone" or similar posts.
If you have trouble coming up with posting topics or replies, then you may want to look inside yourself a bit. Community requires interaction, not just observation. If you want to belong, you need to contribute.
Good luck, friend.

well a number of things you could say... we aim to be a relaxed forum with a good understanding relationship with our members
we want to provide our members with a place to discuss security related topics and provide tools to help secure there systems, hardware, etc, with the help of our members who find the time to code solutions and give advice and help solving any problems our members might have
but then again , also with the good comes..... the bad
but things are getting more relaxed here again..and its about time....fine there are still a few problems to be solved.... trust me were working on it.
the quality of the posts have improved over the past few weeks...we hope and aim to keep it like that

In referance to the email problem, some servers are blocking our mail server. Once the site has been moved it should resolve this issue.
At that time we will begin requiring email verification since I will be sure your server is recieving our emails
It is one of the main reason we will not even consider opening membership until then.

just to add to Gsecur comments on e-mail
i think some of you better sort your accounts out .....(ie) false and non existing !!!
and validate your new address....or your account will be closed once the server moves
dont leave it till the last minute

Nov 7 2003, 03:43 AM
well..... problem is... i use a free email account
badlb@hotmail.com has been the only email i have used in the last 5 years
it was my first and only email account
so i hope we can get the email validation thingy straightened out before then

Thats quite good for GSO, more private means more secure. One question though... Will registration remain closed or will it open later? I recommend to keep it closed and maybe allow new ppl to come in only if they were vouched. Not so easy though... Only specific members (i.e. more than 200 posts) will be able to vouche for others *Just a suggestion*

Yeah But I can argue a little bit diferenty, I never had any "friends", or anybody to talk to in the security field when i first started getting into forums and started learning. It was only after the forums that I got the friends .
So it might be hard for the people that this forum was somewhat designed to help, the people needing the help.
Just a penny for a thought.

I'm also one onf the regular silent readers, and I really like the board and the community.
I will try to get my post pointer higher, but I'm would like to prevent to say to each article fine or well done without any additional information, then this 'no added value' posts' will also bring down the speed...
And as all the others already mentioned - good job boys ...
