hcoca told you all you needed to know, well if your have admin rights

1. winmgnt.exe /i
2. net start serv-u
If it works you will see
The Serv-U FTP Server service is starting..
The Serv-U FTP Server service was started successfully.
and if you had looked on the serv-u site or even tried that command on your own comp you would know that /s stops the service

i think it depends on the virgin you are using. I know 2.5 had quite a few Command Line options. And the newer ones, (3 and 4) don't have as many. But they do not need as many.
this from an old 2.5 manual;
FTP Serv-U recognizes a number of command line options that may be convenient to tailor it to your particular use. The command line looks like this (showing the 32-bit version of FTP Serv-U but the same works for the 16-bit version as well:
SERV-U32.EXE [/h] [/i] [/u] [/s] [ini-file]
Here is what they will do:
/ h = Hide the server after startup.
/ i = Start the server as an icon.
/ u = Stop 'unconditionally'.
/ s = Only start if there is no other instance of FTP Serv-U.
ini-file = path and file name of an alternative setup file like SERV-U.INI
Hiding the server makes it disappear, there will be no icon nor window and no way to interact with it. The other way to hide the server is by adding a line to the SERV-U.INI file, see section 3.3 for the details on that. All you can do to stop the server when it is started invisible is either kill the task in the task manager, or reset the computer. The 'unconditional' option means that if the server is stopped it will quit without any warning, even if there are still users logged in. This can be convenient if you want to be able to stop the server from a script. You also need to use the '/u' option in case you are running FTP Serv-U as a NT system service via the SRVANY utility. The '/s' option is for those that automatically start FTP Serv-U from some script and are not sure if another instance of FTP Serv-U is already running. When the '/s' option is specified FTP Serv-U will immediately exit if it finds another active instance, insuring there will be only one copy of FTP Serv-U running on the system
the newer ones automatically hide the icon,
and wont start if there is another Server Daemon detected
so those options are not neccesary.
not 100% sure, but i think there is just the /s switch to stop the service,
the /i switch to install the service
and blah.bla to specify an .ini other than the one specified inside the .exe Daemon
hope this helps
