I've seen in most topics about windows messenger that have been posted here you discussing about disabling this sh*t...
why not uninstall it ???
-----------------------------------
How to do this ???

Control Panel > Add/Remove > Windows Components

Here in the list you should find Windows messenger...
Uninstall it...

------------------------------------------

If you can't find it in the list you have to unhide it so it is seen in this list...
(cause m$ wants it not to be uninstalled they have hidden uninstaller...)

type:
%systemroot%/inf/sysoc.inf
on Windows Explorer...
then press open...

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
file starts (sysoc.inf)

Thanks Raptor this is actually a very nice Windows tweak .
To Add/Remove other useless hidden programs in Windows XP and 2000 .

The sysoc.inf is in the section called "components" in XP or "old base components" in 2000.
You'll see a component name, followed by an equals sign, followed by a list of parameters separated by commas.

Example: Games=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,games.inf,HIDE,7

The deal: the "HIDE" between the two last commas indicates a hidden component. Remove "HIDE" to unhide the component.

Example: Games=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,games.inf,,7

Unhide any component you want. Save the file.

Reopen the Windows Component Wizard to see your new Add/Remove options!

Now you can remove other junk you don't need.

Interesting suggestions but i just ran this:
Go to start --> run and type:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Press OK.

Removes it completely from ur system without the hassle of a third party program.
Enjoy.
