Hey yall i was wondering some of these UCLA and FSu boxes that my friend has are running a Program Called Deep Freeze
Deep Freeze Standard is Simple and Easy to Use: Install in Seconds. All computers are completely restored to their original software configuration by simply restarting the computer.
Its like You Can do whatever you want to the box Anything u wish but once u reboot the box =[ It WHIPES everything out to its original state when windows was first installed. Ive Heard things of Registry bats to stop this from happening. If anyone has any info on Stopping This Deep Freeze process from happening i would greatly appreciate if theywould drop a post thanks yall

i looked into this a lot when our prof installed it on all the puters and i finally found a way to get rid of it . U need to start the puter from a boot disk . then u can restore a registry backup from the one ur puter automatically saves every now and then . The backup u will restore must have been created before deep freeze was installed .

turns out the boxes i thought deep freeze was running was not deep freeze lol. i went back thru the scans and turns out if u delete files from the system32 folder this program automaticaally reboots the pc and restores it the way it was before. wierd so i jsu went thru and didnt touch the %systemroot% at all and rebooted the pc worked fine. =] later that day i came across a real box with deep freeze and said f*ck it. Thanks for the help anyway guys.

There is a number of software/hardware gadgets that lock machine states. Centurion Guard, Deep Freeze, and a few others. Sometimes they are done at BIOS level and other times at a low level in the OS.
If BIOS, and you can't access the BIOS, you're screwed.
If OS level, and you can't boot from a floppy, you're screwed.
