Dear hacker,
Hi, I'm "Cobras", or John A. Klein as they call me at my "respectable" job, where I'm a professional hacker. I'm the technical manager of the Hacker Wargame Research Project, and this site is the recruitment area for it. Kick back and read for a bit to see if our project interests you and if you're qualified. If so, you can get paid to hack!
The wargame is a specially designed internet connected network running Microsoft Windows® 2000 Servers with IIS, Exchange and MS-SQL. Each participant (that's you) will have to complete 3 specific hacking goals on these Microsoft based servers, so you gotta know how to hack a 'doze box to play our little game. We will be studying how you complete the goals for our "cognitive research" which is the study of how people think.
If we select you to participate in the wargame research project, and you are successful in achieving the three project goals and follow the simple steps we outline, you will be paid a minimum of US$250. Assuming that you spent 5 hours on this, that's fifty bucks an hour! Not bad for doing something that we enjoy doing anyway. Some participants may even be paid more, based on their level of expertise and participation in the project.
In case you're wondering if you can trust us, we talk about that quite a bit on the following pages, but here's the deal: Since we're not asking you to do anything illegal (it's our own network you're breaking into... a reverse IP lookup will prove it) and we don't want to hear about any crimes anyone has committed in the past, there's no reason not to trust us. We've got nothing on you!
From here, simply follow the Next links that are on the top and bottom of every page. The next pages will explain who we are, and who we're looking for then on to the application. There's also an informative FAQ and the referral program page where you can earn money by referring other hackers to the project.
Thank you for your time,
John A. "Cobras" Klein, InfoSec Specialist Hacker Wargame Project Technical Manger Corporate Technologies USA, Inc.

Yes, Cobras is for real. I am him.
Imps2 is right... there are sting operations going on around the world due to the overall sorry ass state of security today that has caused events such as 9/11. Our project is NOT one of these stings however. In fact, the whole reason for our research is to contribute valuable data to the security community without making any judgements or statements regarding hackers. We are accepting blackhat, grayhat and whitehats in our project.
Please take your time and read our site carefully, where we explain exactly why we are doing this project, and outline the guarantees that we offer. For example, we offer complete anonymity to anyone that chooses this route. You dno't have to give us anything other than a nickname and a way to communicate with you. Of course, we can't pay you since you can't make out a money order to "Ub3rH4x0r" but you can still have the satisfaction of testing your skills and contributing to a worthwhile project.
If you have questions, please read the site thoroughly. I think that it explains things pretty well, but I'm kinda biased since I wrote most of teh text there... heh On the other hand, if you have specific questions, or just want to ping my e-mail to see WTF this guy is, you can write to me at secure@corptech.net.
Thanks,
John "Cobras" Klein

(filtered), I signed up, but now I discover all of the shit they demand:
1. We review your application and inform you of our decision at xxxxxx@yahoo.co.uk . 2. If you're chosen, you'll receive all of the information you'll need to connect to the wargame. 3. We'll schedule the time of your hack with you. 4. You'll need to configure your machine(s) with the tools you'll need as well as our data recording requirements ahead of time. 5. You hack our wargame network at the scheduled time and send us proof as you successfully attain the three goals. 6. You send us your logs. 7. We review your logs and your proof to determine success. 8. When we determine that you were successful, we'll contact you to schedule an interview. 9. We'll do a ~two hour telephone interview (or may ask some participants to do in-person at our expense). 10. We will send you your payment if you chose the "Get Paid" option and gave us the info we need to be able pay you.

doop doop, came accross this thread, and I ran a google; some interesting links that I came across in affiliation.
http://www.rent-a-hacker.net/ ^- Not sure how close this hits to home, but it's pretty much on topic which I found a site that says he's the president of this site.
http://www.opensrs.org/archives/bizops-lis.../0004/0065.html ^- No brainer, looks like he has quite the history in banking, the 'cobras.net' confirms it all. BTW, cobras, if you're reading this, your phone info says your from Fergus Falls, MN. As freaky as it seems, I was born there and lived there for over half of my life. , this also checks out with what it says on your site about Fargo and your coorperation. ( that info is on this page: http://www.hackerwargame.org/who_we_are.htm , which includes rather believable statements about the whole deal )
Sounds legit, however the incentive is definately not too hot; people with the knowledge to take out a fully patched MS Server probably dont care for it. Although I may stand corrected.
They have a firewall in which they will allow only one IP address at a time to make the attempt. Thus, you sign up for a set time period and they watch you as you hack away...
Sorry son, a firewall won't help when your network connection(s) are saturated.
Maybe I didn't RTFA, but you didn't RTFM.
