Ive been trying to use proxies for a while now and keep running into problems. I use a router at home and Im not sure if that is cuzing the problem. Ive tried proxies that do work but I cant get them to work. I was using a program called ghost somethin (it sucked) I think it might be my problem also. If anyone thinks they can help me out im all ears.

Was that program Ghostsurf.Never found it too bad, but after 30 days you have to buy it or it stops working.
Are you still using that prog. or are you just putting a proxy in your browser?

Okay, I will assume that your using Windows XP with Internet Explorer. At the top, click Tools, then Internet Options. Now, on the new window, click on the Connections tab. Once here, click on the first Settings button, which should, (fingers crossed), open up a new window. Now, tick the 'Use Proxy Box', and enter your proxies details here. The proxies IP address in one box, and the proxies port in the other. Make sure, "Bypass proxy server for local addresses" is checked, and your done.
Wasn't to hard was it?
Obviously, this only allows you to use one proxy at a time.I you wish to use more than one proxy, (for the extra annoymity), then is the addess bar simply type in the proxy and port seperated with a colon, and then a space with your next proxy, or destination address. Here is an example.
xx.xxx.xx.xx:xx xx.xxx.xx.xx:xx www.google.com
This basically routes your connection through two HTTP proxies, and then through to Google. Take note of the spaces and colons used. The parts in bold are the proxies ports, and the parts underlined are the proxies IP's. This method of using proxies is by using your browser, so your simply putting the proxies into your browser.
Hope that helps.

@ Dave - No problem dude, I'm just here to try and help.
@ DerTaller - I think ehm was just being a slight sarcastic. In the original post by Dave, ehm must of felt that he had not given enough details. Hence the sarcastic tone of his post, and the 'lickle smily face'. The part about living in Germany was just ehm's way of getting his point across, he wasn't saying that your location may affect you from using proxies.
I hope I have cleared up the confusion, and not just made it worse. Maybe ehm can explain himself better than I can..
