is there any winxp command like "ps" in *nix systems?

Try typing tasklist.exe that will give u info.. then taskkill.exe /PID <PID> to kill it

No, im pretty sure its avaliable in the win NT 4 and 2K resource kits. Of course thoese things are obseenly expensive.
