Chances are if they have any type of logging system it's logged in more than one place.

Head down your local internet cafe or library, and grab a computer there. For added peace of mind, route your connection through a few proxy servers, maybe even some Wingates. If you do all this, then who gives a (filtered)?

Although ,shells are pretty shitty these days

But if its a free service type of one theres no doubt they'd contact your ISP or the such.

This has kinda got ofo topic, but hey. Shell accounts don't have to be state-of-the-art kernel's. Just as long as they support the compiling of scripts and programs in your chosen language - then your fine.
On the point about annoymity - Please remember- it's better to be safe than sorry, so when using shell accounts - it doesn't hurt to route your connection through a few wingates too; just for that added piece of mind.

To an extent but proxies don't do the almight task of hiding yourself... proxy servers keep logs too and if the people have such a desire to get to you with the authorities... the logs will be given to the authorities with a warrant if you catch my drift... nothing really is capable of hiding yourself unless you change your actual physical location IE: internet cafe, war driving etc...

dont know if it might help you out, but try and check these lines aswell... make a batch for i or something.
del c:\winnt\system32\LogFiles\*.*
del /s winnt\*.log
maybe even adding a boot batch file that will remove the dir before it's secured somehow... Like a startup batch file, that might help one out aswell ?

if you got IUSR premissions and that what you usually have with iis media then sometimes you dont have premission to delete the logs

Well The thing with media as everyone is well aware is you cannot access certain directories.. Ususally the firts thing that is dont on the system is a FTP is installed once youve installed the FTP , disconnect from the shell and delete upload install ect.. through the FTP .
