hi! i have kinda kinky problem, or how to put it. anyway, thing is, that i gave some delicate and important info for me to a friend of mine, to keep in his computer.
but the main problem is now, the this info kinda leaked and blabla so on. and then he told me, that he didn't do it, cause he got hacked. so now i want to ask him, that ,if he really got hacked, but not gave out this info just for some, khm, delicate matters.
So i'd like to know how and if it is possible to get into Win98 SE. so if i for example ask him, how he was hacked or sth, i can then undrestand if he is just talking rubbish and not telling what really happend. so to throw his own words back to him and say that this or that is not possible ...

its a near certainty he could be hacked. if he has any file shares even with a password, these can be cracked in about 5 seconds on win98.

Technically a search of "Windows 98 Security" should return nothing.

Win9x/ME had so many security fundamental flaws its not funny. Theres various methods he could have been hacked... For example, you can use a program to crack the hash alot easier than via Windows NT based technology. You can also tell Windows 98 that that user doesnt even have a password using various methods.

Being Windows, theres also the methods of being hacked via a Trojan (or similar) and remain almost undetectable due to the fact many new firewalls / anti-virus no longer support an operating systems thats 7 years old.

Sorry buddy, I know, and alot of others do aswell, exactly how to hack a Windows 9X computer - and couldve explained it in half the text this post has - but your post was exactly convincing... However, go have a look around the internet for how to hack Windows 98 if you really want to know...
