When I reomte from one machin using XP pro SP1 to another on wireless it will work for awhile, but if i do just a little too much it freezes up and kicks me off ans says the hostname or IP cannot be found, and the shares aren't avaibale anymore either.

It sounds like the connection of your machine or the machine you are connecting too is getting dropped. Lots of connections get dropped because the computer is not in range of the wifi base, or the computer is getting a poor connection with the wifi base.

You may also want to reduce the amount of data sent to maintain a connection.

Usually its not too much, but when dealing with -80db to -70db with noise, dropping the setting from LAN to Dialup (reduces amount of eye candy) can be done via the client side connection on a windows system.

TCP has a pretty good track record for maintaining the connection, check your connection speed atleast or get the exact RSSI at the time and prior to a disconnection. So if it is packet loss, perhaps a new antenna ?
