Full Version: Winxp Private
Warlord_David
Alright, im having a windows problem, that i REALLY dont want to do...but well here i go...

I have 2 partitions, atm i installed a second winxp pro sp2 on my 2nd partition, on my 1st partition is my 1st (main) for my Admin acct. user, i have it marked as private.

now my question is how can i remove the private status, or FORCE my way into the user account through "Documents and Settings"
t_gillum
do you mean that you made your documents folder private and cant access them anymore when you multi-boot??? if so you need to boot to the partition that you cant access logon as admin and right click on My Documents the go to properties then click the sharing tab and there is a check box that says make this folder private

....alright i dont mean to insult you t_gillum, but can someone with common sense or knowledge of windows xp please reply? I KNOW how to undo it, because i set it up like that. BUT i dont have access to the 2nd partition drives SO im asking how i can bypass it.

This is the Home version right? As Pro will allow you to set any file permissions you need.

If so you could try using the same username/pass for both OS's, that should work unless you are using EFS (if home even has EFS)

Oh well i though you didn't know how to do it you should explain more clearly next time

or maybe your should have never said this part

now my question is how can i remove the private status

as its clearly stated in the first question hey i answered your question you just are not explaining the situation correctly

and have you ever considered typing in attrib of the folder you want to see on the other partition or maybe cacls in the cmd prompt

cacls is windows xps command line utility that modifies the access control list of files and folders

but you would aready know that one wouldn't you

For change the Security for all Folder , you can use MMC Console and ADD "Security Configuration and Analysis" from Add remove snap in.

Right-click the Security Configuration and Analysis scope item
Click Open Database
Type a new database name, and then click Open
Select a security template to import, and then click Open
