for those of you who haven't heard of this, visit http://www.microsoft.com/windows/sfu/ .
this is a fully posix compliant unix subsystem of windows, allowing you to run unix programs natively on windows.
ive been playing around with it, and managed to compile a few progs from source successfully (bash to start with since interix doesnt give you this!).
now it doesnt include an x server and MS suggest usiing Hummingbird for this.
I have installed humminbird exceed, but I do not know how to get interix to talk to hummingbird!
This is the message displayed on typing startx:
CODE
bashWelcome to the Interix UNIX utilities.
DISPLAY=localhost:0.0
%
bash
bash-3.00$ startx
/usr/X11R6/bin/startx[27]: [: and: unexpected operator/operand
/usr/X11R6/bin/startx[34]: [: and: unexpected operator/operand
xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): no server "X" in PATH
Use the -- option, or make sure that /usr/X11R6/bin is in your path and
that "X" is a program or a link to the right type of server
for your display. Possible server names include:
xinit: Undefined error: 0 (errno 0): Server error.
Anyone know what I need to do? Basically i think that startx needs to use the hummingbird x server...
[edit] http://www.interix.com/InteropXserver.htm
This is a version of hummingbird that does all the installation for you, but i already own hummingbird so i dont want to pay again for this.
