fw = tiny
av = housecall
i use tiny because i tried a few but find tiny has the most configurable, it is complicated but once you get the idea of the structure you can make your own rules or import snort type rulesets.
i use housecall because i dont want an av software resource hog on my pc and 95% of the time any software that comes in is from a source im familiar with.

on my main pc i use kaspersky av and kaspersky anti hacker [firewall],
never had anything get through yet

on my other box i use norton av and firewall , this allows me to use this
pc for testing trojans and exploits etc, as norton does not pick most of them
up , but kaspersky would delete instantly

I've tested a lot of antivirus products and some firewalls. My opinion is that the best AV is F-secure and Kerio Firewall.
By the way You guys should try to use Agnitum Outpost Firewall. The latest version is very cool and has a lot of unique features.

Me says NAV = big shit
it doesn't seem to detect anything
Scan your whole HD with KAV and you'll what I mean
Mc afee doesn't seem to be bad either ...
As a firewall, I hacked in the past a gf which had zonealarm, damn it was easy...
Also the norton firewall isn't strict enough with the rules and is prolly easy to kill
Use a hardware firewall or again , the Kaspersky one isn't bad, amthough there should be many other good ones out there

i use ZoneAlarm for quite some time now, never got hacked trough it...
since recent i use a router aswell, but that is only becoz of shared internet, and i dont dis-like the extra security it provides.
for AV i use Kasperky's
at Jimmy, it aint that important if u can kill the firewall easy or not. All FW can be shutdown, the thing is, u shouldnt be able to get in in the first place.

Or put them on a USB drive, or other removeable media. You prolly should use a Anti Viris cause you just never know....

I use the following :
Firewall : ZoneAlarm pro
Avirus : PC - Cillin
The most important is the configuration of the firewall. The best firewall is useless
without the proper config.
For antivirus , select a company that responds quickly to new threats. (update)

AV: Kaspersky
FW: Sygate
As far as AV's go Kaspersky defiantly leads the way, no question there.
As far as firewalls, i would probably think either Sygate Pro or Zone Alarm Pro, its a hard decision between the two, Zone Alarm seems to slow some peoples internet down....

Firewall ( application protection ) : Blackice. I've tested everything named in this thread. Some are unhandy, but all take way to much CPU resources and visibly slow you down when having many connections or when using lots of bandthwidth. Furthermore I like the normal interface. Not a flashy thing like kerio, sygate etc. You don't need that.
Antivirus : I haven't found one that dos all the things I need. Their is lots of room for improvement here.

anyone heard of Sophos Anti Virus? If yes, would you suggest it? What I saw is that it isn't as handy as DrWeb, but still an alternative... And as firewall, I use Windows Firewall, i think it's mostly enough...

AV/FW : Mcafee internet security 7.0
Only bad thing i can say about the AV is theres no exception list, i would use KAV but it likes to eat memory.

Definitely Sygate as fwall and laspersky as av ( Nod if slow pc ) ..
Look n Stop is a good firewall too and i think pair of Nod32 and LooknStop will take least resources (for av/fwall combo) ..

Hi peop's.
The Best config for me is @ Moment :
AV : Kaspersky Personal 5
FW : Kerio Personal Firewall 4.1.3 + HW Firewall
I see does the Kaspersky firewall need a lot of peformance and sometimes it crashes @ scanning big partitions ( 200GB and more ) but the realtime scann is good.
Kaspersky isnt good for gamers. I play sometims so en half hour and i see very big differences between gaming with kaspersky and without.
I have high end machine and Cs Source get stucking.
So thats my config.
