Full Version: Proxim Training In Dc
SgtRush
Spending the week near DC going to Proxim Trainig (Wireless Vendor, they bought orinoco). Its required for us to sell some of there higher end point to multipoint bridges. Anyway the giveaways for all of us attending is a gold a/b/g combo pc card and an AP 4000 a/b/g Access Point. Woot! Much better security than I got on my old Netgear AP at home. I love free stuff. Obviously I am not going to tell work about the free stuff.

??????

What's your spin, Myth? I wasn't sure how to take your reply. You want to include a little bit more so we can tell for sure?

Either way, it doesn't seem very nice!
SgtRush
I didn't read anything into it other than he wishes he had a seat in the classroom too. I wish I had 2 of me so I could sell one and keep one.

Today we are going into interference, and determining EIRP and a bunch of shiznit I am sure I am not qualified to even attempt to explain to anyone. Its important in the design of the network but a bit of a snoozer to sit through. Hope the test isn't as tough as staying awake is today.

Ah sorry....

Yeah, wanted that equipment, was gonna put a link on the site and atleast show everyone what it was, but they dont sell that series on the net... didnt look too much further though...

But yeah, im in Aust. we dont have anything like any of that here, even if we do its ALWAYS in the other cities...

The first post was just a little joke, err, sorry to offend sad.gif

The A/B/G card is what ive been looking for, well, atleast a/b cards ....

Are the proxim's prism2 chipsets ?
SgtRush
No there all agere now. Dissapointed me too. Fortunately I have a Netgear g card that still runs on the prism54 driver so kismet works on my sniffer laptop.

So does the free a/b/g card have a female port at the end of the adapter? i.e pigtail, small directional antenna

When I bought my Proxim g silver card , that lack of a port is the only reason I didn't get the a/b/g. I not sure what chipset it has but would not work with netstumbler (either version) on XP Pro but does with Win2003. I never could figure out the differences between the two that my proxim card/netstumber worked on win2003 but not xp pro.

Any idea's?
SgtRush
I had problems with it at first. They put netstumbler 0.4.0 on some our training CD's and that version works perfectly. It disables the wireless zero configuration service when it starts. Don't know if that has anything to do with it, just something I noticed. No pigtail on this card for an external antenae. Its been an interesting week, Learned quite a bit about Proxim's products passed 2 of the 3 tests I needed to. I will take the last one tomorrow before I head for the airport. It will be good to get home, I miss the wife, my kid and the dog..... didn't miss the cats.....course they probably didn't miss me either. LOL
