Full Version: Dr. Web
sk3tch
http://www.drweb.com/

I am telling you, these guys rival Kaspersky in definition quality. I would even venture so far as to say they have the potential to be better. They certainly are less expensive.

Check out their command-line scanner (attached image) - it defines the malware *and* what it was packed with! Friggin' cool...

The app is available for Windows and *nix...definitely worth checking out. Let me know what you think.

well, i heard the name DrWeb many times, so i am going to test it.
looks like it is really good so everyone suggests this AV software...
crafty
like i have said before, DR Web is the best antivirus product on the market today.

although it can still get bypassed with certain virii/trojans tongue.gif

One of my custom programs which had recently been caught by kasp I tried in dr.web and it went through..

so kasp beat drweb on that one.

but drweb is more system-resource-friendly. KAV not...
or have i missed something?

It makes no sense at all to test one product versus another based on the detection of a single file. Especially if it is something that hasn't been released "in the wild."

Unless you're doing a pure heuristics-based test...it doesn't indicate who is better and who is not necessarily.

I never said Dr. Web was bettter, but they are very close. I do think their app is less resource intensive.

BTW...it still has not been infected in my honeypots...this is running Windows 2000 Professional SP4 (no other patches) and all ports exposed to the Internet for about 2 weeks. That is impressive (Kaspersky was not infected during that time either).

Flowby
your right about it its as kav or maby even beter....
but NOTHIG BEATS NOD HEURISTIC!
