Intended Audience: This little "article" is intended for the newbies out there who are
just getting into hacking or would like to "learn how to hack". I wrote this as preparation
for anyone thinking they might be interested in hacking. If this explains you, then read on.
*************** Hacking; What it Is Not **************************
We've all seen the movie Hackers, watched as Angelina Jolie and some blonde haired dimwit
"hack" into a mineral companys' network. We've heard about "Hackers" on the news, how they
delight in defacing some losers website. We've heard about them stealing other peoples private
data, using their credit card numbers to buy themselves whatever they want at no expense to
themselves. We've heard of the elite thirteen year olds blocking access to such high rate
companies as eBay, PayPal and Microsoft.
What we've all heard is crap. Exaggerations, half-truths and blatant lies by the media to sell
a story.
The media portrays hackers as adolescent "super nerds" that break into banks and corporations
with the click of a button using pretty looking programs. This couldn't be farther from the truth.
*************** Hacking; What it IS ********************************
Hacking is about a love for knowledge. It's having a "mind orgasm" when you learn a sweet new hack.
Hacking involves a lot of hard work and a disgusting amount of reading.
Yes, knowing how to break into someones computer is cool, but just because you can do it
doesn't mean you should. Hacking does not involve pointing a program at a website and
clicking a button labeled "hack".
If you are interested in becoming a real hacker and dedicating a lot of time to the movement
then read on.
*************** Hacker Ethics & Tips **************************************
Here are a few tips to help you get into hacking.
1. Don't have an attitude, there's nothing I hate more than a punk kid thinking he's too cool.
2. Don't be afraid to help yourself, do some research then ask for help.
3. Don't demand answers from real hackers. Hackers work hard to learn everything they know.
We don't mind sharing our information as long as you ask politely and don't ask stupid questions
that could be answered by taking 2 minutes to search google.
4. Read everything you can. Even old texts have lots of good information.
5. Share your knowledge.
6. Help out newbies, and always remember that you were once a newbie.
7. If you're going to ask a question make it specific and to the point.
Also add any information that might be helpful.
Well that's it. Welcome to the wonderful world of Hacking

.
Good Luck, and I hope you stick around.
