this time i wanna know if there is a way how to determine the sql version of a server without first logging in to it.. just the IP and the service port.. can someone help me plz rolleyes.gif

Well you should also consider the possibility that this is not a mssql server.

The port 1433 is open not only by this service, but can opened by another customized service that is configured to use the port 1433.

found a program on SQLSecurity [ SQLver ] seems to work great smile.gif
Pitty that the prog hangs sometimes .. dunno why .. hope they release another version soon laugh.gif
