this time i wanna know if there is a way how to determine the sql version of a server without first logging in to it.. just the IP and the service port.. can someone help me plz

Well you should also consider the possibility that this is not a mssql server.

The port 1433 is open not only by this service, but can opened by another customized service that is configured to use the port 1433.

found a program on SQLSecurity [ SQLver ] seems to work great
Pitty that the prog hangs sometimes .. dunno why .. hope they release another version soon
