I want to access a computer that is on NAT, so only the router ip address is public while the individual ip addresses are kept private. Accessing the comp would require me to configure the router to forward the specific port that I need. Is there way to do this remotely?

i have the same problem, i cannot login to a cisco c65 router with default passes... is there any bruteforce method available for this?

If the router has been set up to allow external IP's, you may be able to do a brute attack on the router, or maybe even try some default passwords. But if the router only allows internal IP's (IP's within the LAN subnet) then I don't think there is much that you can do, which is the most probable situation unsure.gif .

Just did a quick google search.

hxxp://www.solarwindsuk.net/toolsets/toolsets-security-utilities.htm <-- a router security check tool can be found here. Shareware.
hxxp://www.btinternet.com/~lithiumsoft/index.html <-- Xavior is supposed to be able to brute force routers.
hxxp://www.hoobie.net/brutus/ <-- brutus can also be used to brute force a router.

I hope these tools can help you smile.gif and good luck.

if your problem is accessing a compouter behind a NAT, then you need to fiddle around with Port Forward settings.

For Example, If you have a ftp server behind a NAT and you want to access it .

FTP SERVER ---- ROUTERINSIDE INT | ROUTER OUTSIDE INT ---- CLIENT

You need to forward the Router Out IP:21,22 - ROUTER INT IP:21,22

Hope you understood .

I think the other part of the question was whether you can configure the router remotely. Not sure what is exactly meant by this. If you mean externally somewhere on the internet --probably not.

Usually you have to be on the inside of the network or on the same LAN segment as the router to configure it. If it's one of those home / office routers you usually configure it via a web interface. If it's Cisco or a hardcore router ssh or telnet will most likely be the way.

wonders why remote config of a router is required.

Anyway, my advice would be to run on common port that is most likely forwarded as default.

there's a hard but elegant way to solve this problem.
all you need is Remote Anything and Remote Anything Directory Server.
then u just have to config your slave.exe for the directory server, install the slave.exe on your computer which is behind a firewall and connect via directory server.
the trick is that the server connects to you (indirect), so you dont have to open any ports because you dont connect to the server - the computer connects tothe directory server and the directory server responds to the computer your commands.
