Hi, guys.

I have quite a large amount of MD5 hashes that I'm testing some cracking out on. Now, Cain v2.5 does a rather good deal of cracking w/my word lists, but it is sort of slow (300k p/s on THIS machine) and more importantly it is lacking features (exporting cracked hashes, etc.) .

I was wondering if anyone knew of a dictionary attacker for md5 hashes that is faster or has better features than Cain?

Thanks.

kmd5 is pretty fast, it uses a modified md5 algorithm of leptoncracks, supports mulitple dictionaries and saves the hashes to a file

edit: this site has poor uptime so try every couple of hours
schnibble
also try PasswordPro from www.insidePro.com, and ofcourse JohnTheRipper, wich seems to be fastest...

Well, I don't think JtR supports the type of MD5 hashes I'm doing, otherwise I'd surely use it. Thanks for those recommendations. Checking em out now..

stock standard JTR supports BSD based md5 hashes, but there are patches available for it - see the site

if try ti crack md5 p\w i think u can try use mdcrack find it @ google.
but take all cpu usage...its porblme and not heltiy for the computer.

Well, the md5 hashes I'm trying to crack are something to the effect of:

fae0b27c451c728867a567e8c1bb4e53

I'm trying to Dictionary Attack them not bruce force.

The first link didn't work, and Password Pro looks decent, but it doesn't seem to have a way to import the dictionary file - looks more like a brute forcer than anything.

Hmm...

on the toolbar..click on the 2nd to the last icon 2 da right(there's like a dropdown menu)
-->check dictionary attack-->click options--> then add your wordlist

another one:

leptons crack is pretty fast for me and has a gui frontend: google for it..

and if all else fails

oh.. derr wink.gif

I can't tell how fast ppro is going and it doesn't have as as many rules/options as Cain does.

EDIT: took Cain about 8 seconds to crack 1BBD886460827015E5D605ED44252251 and PPro 14 ohmy.gif

Going to try out leptons. Thanks wink.gif
